Construction on Atkins Road from 700’ west of S Charmwood Dr. to Beach Road in Port Huron Township is set to begin on September 30, 2026.
Road reconstruction includes trench widening, crushing/shaping/stabilizing existing asphalt, repaving roadway with asphalt and new aggregate shoulders.
Construction will be completed under a full road closure. Traffic will be detoured using West Water Road.
Local traffic will be maintained within the construction zone, including to homes and businesses. Local residents and emergency vehicles will have access to local properties throughout the entire project. Local residents are encouraged to plan for delays due to construction. We request your cooperation and patience.
Construction is anticipated to take approximately 3 weeks. All scheduling and project dates are subject to change depending on weather.
This project is financed by the St. Clair County Road Commission and Port Huron Township at a total estimated cost for construction of $691,912.53.
The prime contractor is Ace Saginaw Paving.
